Ok, so sorry to go off topic, but I have been looking at the Canon rebel t4i. But I'm thinking I am either going to have to save up a bit longer, or just get the t3?

Op, great snakes! Thanks for sharing! :)

shoulder strap which you can see some vids of it on youtube it really is a comfortable strap and so far i have no complaints with it. here are some pics i shot im just using the 18-55 kit lens it came with i have not been able to get any other lenses cause all my money has been spent on snakes and enclosures haha. the blood is mine but these other snakes are from a local show in san antonio i was at i had more but my computer crashed and i lost alot of them.

That blood is nice... I walked into a pet store once & a customer had a pretty big one & I complimented him on it (bloods are absolutely beautiful), turns out no one in the pet store had any idea what it was lol. & Omg *picks jaw offf floor* those Gaboons are stunning, I can't wait to fdip my toes into venomous! Also... Thank you so much for all the camera info & suggestions, I'm very grateful considering a lot of my research has already been explained by you! Many Blessings! Thanks again :gj:

Awesome! I'll probably go with the Rebel, & definitely keep everyone updated with more pics. Thanks for "second-ing" the rebel, I love feedback & opinions y'all! :D

Thanks for the compliment. I don't know much about DSLR cameras (I'm more of a film fan) but I will be switching over to digital soon, so keep the advice coming y'all! & I totally don't mind you going off topic because I too would love to soak up some knowledge about Digital SLR's. :)

the t2i is a great camera and is really on par with the t3i i think the only major difference is the t3i has the rear flip out screen i would not hesitate to get a t2i and use the extra money one would save for some lenses.

the t4i has some upgrades to the photo side of the camera and some more on the video side so for sure it is a better camera but i went with the t3i because it was in stock and from what i read the upgrades for someone like me who is new to it all are something i probably would not need at this time or even notice a difference if i did use them. now if your a seasoned veteran and well versed in cameras you would probably want/need those new upgrades but it is definitely not a deal breaker.

as far as lenses i would say get the t2i/t3i or t4i with the 2 lens kit and it should come with the 18-55 lens and a 55-250,

a good lense is a 50mm f1.8 which is about 100-125.00$ or the 50mm f1.4 which is about 350.00 the difference in picture quality/ and build quality is better with the 50mm f1.4 but to some people the 50mm f1.8 is just fine for 1/3rd the price

the next lens i would look at is the 100mm macro lens for your real close up shots
and also they have a 40mm pancake lens i think its main use is for the video side but i could be wrong i have not looked at much info for the video side of my camera yet.

i am starting with the t3i and the 18-55 kit lense cause i just didnt have the extra for the 2 lens kit plus i dont want to get ahead of my learning curve
so im just shooting and shooting until i learn how to use my camera then i will throw some more lenses in the mix. im thinking my next camera purchase will actually be a good flash and then a lens later down the road. good luck

as far as the four pics i posted sorry no gaboons here i did have anawesome shot of one that was for sale at the show but lost it in the crash.
the first is my blood python second pic is two copperhead's cant remember what they were im thinking broadbanded copperheads maybe one was a southern
and those last two are a canebrake rattlesnake

also some of the better advice i got off that forum is
    1. start small one or two lenses until you decide what you want/love to take pics of then purchase your lens's and other gear for that subject, this way you dont end up with 50 different lenses only to find out you use 2 or three.
    2. the photographer makes the camera the camera doesnt make the photographer, this is the trap that gets me cause i always want to buy better or newer stuff no matter what im into at the time (i have serious upgradeitis)
so i keep telling myself james it dont matter if you spend 5,000 if you dont know how to use the camera you have that 5,000 camera you want will not be any better your pics will still look like crap regardless haha !!!!!

hope some of my newb ramblings might have helped even if it was just a little, good luck

Hey thank you so much for all this into! I've been looking @ the rebel t3i w/ the 18-55 mm & either the 55-250 mm or the 75-300 mm lens. Which lens would you go with? And again, thank you so much for the useful and helpful info, I appreciate it a lot! :D
