    Personally I would get something with a dimmer verse an on off switch, that way you can control the heat output. Here is one suggestion.

    There are a few reasons why a bulb may blow prematurely, especially in a specific fixture. Make sure to check in the base of your fixture (WHILE IT IS UNPLUGGED) to make sure the copper connector inside the ceramic base is sticking out far enough to make a good connection with your bulb. Try not to screw in your bulbs too tight (or too loose), and check that the top of the fixture is properly connected as well. I have found a handful of fixtures where the wire leading in to the top of the fixture is loose or not quite in there firmly, and that can cause bulbs to blow early as well.
