If he's started this shed, then there's nothing you can do but wait it out. As to why...? The others have brought up various stress issues you can check. I just have a couple questions: What do you use to heat the enclosure? Is there any chance at all it could be burns on his belly? Or irritation due to constantly wet substrate? Have his eyes clouded over yet?

The other question I have comes from you mentioning a previous owner. How long have you had him? At 3.5 feet, he is unlikely to be growing so fast he needs to shed twice in the same month...but if you've only recently aqquired him and are "fattening" him up...then it might be that he's just outgrown his old skin. Or it could be stress due to a new environment, depending on how long you've had him and how long he had to settle in before you started handling him on a daily basis.

He should not be shedding agan this soon. The likeliest possibilities are that it's either not a shed or that he is shedding to try and fix a health condition (such as a burn). Either way, you should be watching him carefully.

If you said he looked malnourished due to the previous owner, and I assume you are offering food regularly, it could just be the snake's system adjusting to the changes. Get through this shed, keep doing what you are doing, and if it happens again, you can start ruling out possibilities.

It doesn't seem like a burn, I keep his temps regulated, and he really doesn't spend a whole lot of time on his UTH. I feed him when he shows signs of being hungry. He has grown, girth wise, since we have had him. We have had him since 2/27/04. We have a 100W bulb on one side w/ a hide, and a UTH on the other with a hide. He has a large water dish that he can soak in easily, and a climbing branch if he wants to climb. He is in a low traffic area of the apartment, and is only handled when my daughter and dog are not around. When I took him to the vet the week after I got him, they said that he was a little underweight and a bit dehydrated. I took care of that.
