The way I keep my animals allows me a lot of viewing time. And while some are really good at laying low, I do see them for the most part drinking (after a meal especially). I can also understand depending on your setup, you might not see them drink as often as you would like. Water, FRESH water is very, very important to these snakes. And while it is not necessary, quite a few keepers believe in having a bowl big enough for the snake to soak in. This way if the snake does want to take a dip, they can. And believe me, some will.

I don't usually see my snakes drink, but I often look in on them to find an empty bowl that I know contained water the night before.

They drink from time to time. They're just not likely to do it while you're watching.

I only see mine drink maybe once a week, usually after I change the water (which I do every other day). As long as he is eating and acting normal I wouldn't worry
(edit) you've only have him a few days, so just give him time to settle. He's probably drinking late at night when the house is quiet

I've had my older ball python for nearly 24 years and in all that time only seen him drink maybe a couple dozen times. My yearling bumblebee though, I see her drink probably once a week. Just coincidence and timing. I'm sure they drink just as often I just don't see it.

Basically, try not to worry...as long as everything else is good, and water is fresh, it's probably drinking when you aren't around.

    Enjoy your new snake :)
