The best herp vet in Halifax is Dr. Dibblee at Fairview animal hospital, The Village at Bayers Rd 7071 Bayers Road. Suzette and Jamie (RVT) are seriously great and attend Dr. Mader's clinics yearly. My guess is you are speaking of companion a-h ? I have never been myself but I do know others whom go there usually with the hard troubles they head to see DrD.
I can see the use of supplements because of the antibiotics and perhaps see light supplementation to every now and again make up for freezer loss. But oral antibiotics is an odd treatment I have not seen any literature I have read on medical issues. cultures are usually the way to go sadly after a round of antibiotics have already been given they are usually unreliable until the drugs have cleared the system. I don't think it necessary but I also don't think that light use is any harm and there is a chance of some benefit. I would be unwilling to suggest that there is no benefit at all I am unsure on that one.
It might be worth the call to Fairview to get a second opinion. Suzette is the go to person for vets across the province it can't hurt to get a second opinion.
