Having a visual pied male to begin your pied projects is exactly how I got started. I have a number of morph females I planned to breed him to to produce my morph het pieds.
However, given the fact that females take 2 or 3 years to reach breeding size so they can then be bred by him is one drawback. Hence my decision to invest in a visual pied female or two at or near breeding size once some of this year's hatchlings sell. You see, by breeding the morph females I already have to my visual male, I know I will produce morphs that are 100% het. Then, I can keep back a few morph het males to breed to my visual females to give me the morph pieds and morph pied combos I seek in a shorter amount of time. Especially since you can breed multiple males to one female.
Both ways will lead to success of course, so it really comes down to personal preference. I have noticed in most cases, 100% het pied males are a little more affordable than het females, even as babies. So that could also end up playing a part.
I myself don't have really grand plans like you do. No quadruple gene pied for me. I simply desire to produce a number of different pied morphs, and perhaps a few combos that are pied. I am picky on which pieds I produce however, and have no interest in producing all white pieds, white pieds with colored heads, or certain morph pieds that just don't have much visual appeal to me like champagne pieds. I am partial to mojave pieds, fire pieds, black pastel pieds, enchi pieds, pin pieds and a few others. So perhaps in my future their might be a mochi pied, or a fire pin pied, a few things like that.

I would go with quantity like others have said. Try to get female animals with some size given you already have a male. If it was me i would try to get animals over 700g that have a chance to be ready by next year.

Im trying to think what will give me the best possibilities to have a nice pied project in the future. One of my goals will be a Black Pastel albino pied, or a Black Pewter Albino Pied(I know Im hoping high on the future project). Any thought will help, it is possible i might be able to get into the project earlier since my birthday is coming soon(Nov 15), so either family will give me extra spending money for White Plains or one of the fellow bp.net members want to send me the best birthday gift ever;):D.
definately try 100% het pied females to make something awesome in the future. Im trying to go to white plains also

Pick up a black pastel albino girl and a pastel het pied girl with a little size on her if possible ...
Then try to make a pastel pied male with your pastel het pied girl while you are raising up the albino black pastel... Then breed the pastel pied male to the albino black pastel girl to make a bunch of double het albino pied pewter, pastel, and black pastel babies to hold back so you can try for your super pastel super black pastel albino pied!!! And lots of other combos! Good Luck

Hi,
I would first pair that pied male to the girls you got around, its a cheaper way of makeing better Het combo's then keep from all pairings something back. And spend that 1500USD on something else our a high end Piebald combo.
So pair the male to that Albino keep the double hets back, and pair him to the pastel lesser 2 good combonations. Thats just my 2 cents

Buy a female VPI axanthic and get some double het lightening pieds...

I'm biased but....

Just kidding. Pick some morphs you like and start a new project. I doubt something like a female Enchi het Pied can be found for $1500. So why not get a female Enchi, a female YB, a female Fire, and maybe one more. If you want instant gratification you're probably only going to get a couple of pastel het pieds. Any way you choose you can't go wrong. Pied anything is a good thing. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. As for getting a female albino black pastel, thats what i'm hoping for in one of my first pairings. I figured i will be getting a female pied(try of a older one), and a ____ het pied. The problem turns into which het pied female, i can make a lot of my own hets with my guy, and there are a few that i dont want as females. Mojo being one of them, since i plan to get a mystic female, i would want to get a pastave hypo male to breed to te mystic and my pastel lesser. I guess i have some thinking to do:D. Thanks for the help
-Brandon-beautiful snakes, since it seems like you have so many to deal with why don't you send those to me as a birthday gift:gj:

I jumped into Pied's knee deep a few months back at the Daytona Expo....
I purchased a 0.1 Pied hatchling. Shortly after I found a 975g Pied girl. I managed to trade up to her using the hatchling and did pretty well on the trade. I then got a monster 1.0 Pied who was 1400g and obviously a proven breeder. I was going to go Pied x Pied. That idea soon died, and I decided to get started into Pastel Pieds and Mojave Pieds.
I have since gotten another 0.1 Pied (now 800+g) for next year, and a BIG normal girl to hopefully make some 0.1 Het Pieds on my own. I will likely pick-up another big 0.1 Pied or 100% Het Pied girl before next season.
I have decided on mostly making my own Het Pied morphs. I did pick-up a 1.0 Black Pastel 100% Het Pied and a 1.0 Pastel 100% Het pied to speed things up. Here are this year's pairing....
0.1 Pastel x 1.0 Pied (hoping for more Pastel het Pieds)
0.1 Pied x 1.0 Black Pastel 100% Het Pied
0.1 Normal x 1.0 Pied (Looking for 100% Het girls)
Next year:
0.1 Pied x 1.0 Mojave (making my own Het's and hopefully a 1.0 Mojave Het)
0.1 Pied x 1.0 Pastel 100% Het Pied (Pastel Pieds)
Beyond depends on what I produce in the next 2-3 years ;)

I would skip the female Pied and find 2 or 3 codom/dom morphs 100% het for pied. That way you have a good crack at several different pied combos.
