I didn't see any heat lamps or anything... maybe she used under tank heating?
Sigh... it'd be nice if everyone (including police! great point, daft) were willing to learn something...

so listen to this, because of that news story and how it was reported on various other news outlets my buddy comes up to me today (knowing I have a snake) and says.. dude, some snake tried to eat a lady in Floriday... I laughed and explained what really went down, how snakes sense through smell, and how the lady was not the brightest bulb in the box feeding an adult python WITH HER HAND!

This reminds me of something I saw on that LAPD reality-tv-channel show. This... well, we'll call her a lady, called the police in hysterics. She was screaming that a snake was on her porch. it was a harmless black snake, and the ******* cop killed it by spraying it with pepper spray and knocking it in the head. The psycho uneducated... uh, lady, that called the cops was literally rolling around on her living room floor in terror becuz of this harmless snake. Man, things like this remind me why I hate people! (Just the ignorant ones)

I had a friend who was/is terrified of snakes. She would shudder and squirm and get all antsy if you just said the WORD snake! There was no talking to her at all about how harmless they are to humans or how much they help our ecosystems. I didn't/don't hate her for that...but I sure as heck don't get it. And I find myself, in my more cynical moments, thinking she just really loves being a drama queen and finds snakes something very easy to be dramatic about. I think this may be the case for quite a few of those who get that hysterical about snakes (or other things). They just don't have enough in their lives to be passionate about...

Well said Judy!

Here's a link to a printed article about the same story. You can see a picture of the woman and the cage. I can't believe she keeps a burm in it!!

GRRRR A python "went wild" hmmm.. interesting... maybe because they are WILD ANIMALS? I HATE THIS there is NO REASON for a story about a python bite ending up in papers from Florida to California - please lord tell me there are more important things to report, or justices to persue. It really sucks that so many journalists forgot what the profession was really about - not to compete with Jerry Springers raings, but to attempt to uncover truth.

i saw something similiar to this on a reality tv show, a man was bit in his face by his 12 foot bcc that he had raised from a baby. the tv blew it up to make it seem as if the snake was vicious, and wanted to kill the owner... and only one statement from the owner made it on the show... "He's a good snake, would never bite unless he felt the need..." and they cut him off. I'm more than positive he was about to state the reasons WHY your snake would bite you. but like ive said my entire life, only idiots believe the media when it comes to herps.

Judy -- Thanks for finding that article! I looked for one after I saw the commercial for the news broadcast but I guess it was too soon to have anything written about it yet. That woman needs some husbandry advice...
