Haha thanks! Everyone says that but rarely does anyone do it :P It's a nice touch.

What I do is I buy magnet strips that have adhesive on the back and stick them to the cage. Then get another magnet (of the opposite polarity) and put my label on it. So the magnets stick together.

I use FileMaker Pro for my custom database... the version of FileMaker Pro that I am using doesn't have native support for QR codes (but I'm fairly certain that the newest version does) so I actually wrote an app for my iPhone to access the database off my server and assign a QR code to each animal. If there is enough interest I can look into getting the app onto the app store.

I'm sure that there are other ways to incorporate QR codes. I already had the FileMaker Pro database set up before I started using QR codes so I just went with it.

It would be cool to make QR codes that link to IHerp tracking. That seems to be very popular, but I don't think they have a phone ap yet?

Right now I do all my tracking on an excel spreadsheet. Very high tech..

I use iHerp as well, it wouldn't be too hard to make QR codes that link to iHerp.

    I figured as much :P

I find Iherp a little annoying to use. Too many clicks to add things. I usually just fill it in with my written/excel records.

For the magnets, are you able to get two strips on one cage? Like, when I pair my snakes I move the clip with the snake to the other enclosure so I know where everyone is.

Easily... in fact that was the original reason why I used magnets, so moving the labels during breeding would be easier.

Mine are set up like so. I print them on business card stock and use plastic name tag holders.

Tape and a sharpie! :) The morph displayed on the front of the tub. If I have more than one type which I have 3 big normals they just get 'FNormal-1' or whichever. Then all the other info is on my data sheet that goes with each snake: feeding log; hatch date and who I purchased it from; arrival weight and date; monthly weight and any other notes go on my data sheets! Nothing special, I know... But someday. :)

I just open the tubs and ask, who are you??

lol, kidding! I use a label maker and attach the label to the shelf just above the tub.

I keep all their info in a binder. No tub tags. I know where everybody is, lol, but occasionally hubby will ask "who's in that tub?". I was going to have my daughter make some name cards for them, haven't gotten around to it. But I like those chalk ones you have too. Maybe I should go over to Michael's....
