Broke no because we have a house and 3 young children.

    Have I spent more money than I ever thought I would-yes I have:D

My husband gets a kick of of me showing him pictures and then telling him how much the snake is going for.

That's why I like going to shows- I get to see incredible animals, I may not get to take them home with me but its so much different in person.

Most of the stuff I buy comes from money from animals Ive sold prior except for the initial investment, I made that out of pocket but I also have more than a few stable resources for income.

yup, When I started breeding I literally spent every penny I had.

a year later I'd paid back all the money I spent, had money in the bank and took myself on a vacation :) It was well worth it.

This years "upgrades" were funded by the profit I made from selling the offspring. If all goes well, I don't plan to put any more cash into my snakes and instead use the offspring sold exclusively to fund projects etc.

There are a lot of shades of broke. broke I have no many at all, broke I can only pay rent/mortgage and bills, broke I have no extra/play money. Only a fool would buy a snake and have absolutely no money at all clearly the animal requires care power food all of which cost money. But deciding that I didn't need to go away and cutting meals out and movies for a while sure I would. I actually get quite upset when I hear people talking of buying a snake but not being able to buy a thermostat food ect. basic needs associated with responsible ownership.

Not flat broke, but I would do it even if it meant cuts in fun money. My snakes, and getting new snakes, IS fun!
