This was 3 years ago and I think she still does this. She said she tranquilized the rats so the snake doesn't get hurt and that's the only reason. I found it quite disturbing... I asked my friend why she bothers feeding live and the teacher apparently announce she does it this way to give the snake a fuller experience in hunting? Some weird explanation...

Anybody else wondering where this person is getting the injectable tranquilizers and syringes? These require a prescription to obtain...

Are you sure she is tranqing the rats? Anyone see her inject a rat?

I'm wondering if she's stunning it and just saying it's tranqed so no one thinks she's being 'brutal' to the rats?

If she is injecting a sedative, she should be turned in for having illegal drugs. No telling what she's using or where she's getting them, but she certainly shouldn't have that type of drug.

Feeding a tranq drug to a snake is a big no-no.

    (assuming this is all true)

Well that's what she claimed to do when her students asked if it was dangerous to feed live. So I guess it's a consensus is a big nono/weird

So I tried to find the teacher's email to ask her about the tranquilizing methods but I guess she was replaced by 2 other science teachers. Gah I wish I paid more attention to what she was saying or I wish I told her that's just weird/not correct husbandry for the snakes.
