What ATTRACTED YOU TO BPs?

i liked all snakes ever since i saw them kill and eat there's just something about them that attracted me too them. but i picked a bp because they are easy to care and they don't grow past 5ft like other snakes. breeding them is just another way to get free morphs instead of paying the big buck for the one's i'd like to get.

Specifically the head shape! But, it's a medium sized snake too. Not small like milks or corns but not a Burmese either!

My wife hated snakes all her life. But me and my daughter finally talked her into letting us get a corn...which she promptly fell in love with. But the thing was squirrely . So we got our first ball because they are mellow. Well some are.

I want one as I am told they are a good starter snake that you can hold and will not try to run away

Working at the zoo (with several types of animals) we had an RTB, 2 cali kings, 2 desert kings, and 2 ball pythons. I had always liked snakes, but had never worked with them as my parents don't care for them. Instantly upon working with them, I fell in love with the BPs. I love their size - not too big, but not twiggy, their patterns and colors, their sweet disposition and tendencies to just chill out with you. Compared to corns, which I also love, they need more specific care but are still fairly easy to keep. :)

That zoo collection was also responsible for my adoration of blue tongue and prehensile tail skinks, chuckwallas, tortoises, leo and fat tail geckos, chinchillas, hedgehogs, and guinea pigs. :D

Truth be told, I just wanted a snake, preferably a Red Tail Boa or a Green Tree Python, but those aren't legal to own down here, so I did my research and found out only BPs and Garter Snakes are legal. Garter Snakes didn't please me, so I went with BPs. BUT, now that I do know about BPs, I wouldn't trade them for any other snakes, I just love these goofballs :D

Any garter snake I had got up and try to run any time I picked them up. Any bp I have picked up moved nice and slow and hung out.

I fell in love with them when I was in 5th grade. My teacher had a ball python in the class as well as a pair of bearded dragons and I just naturally gravitated towards the snake. He was a very interesting class pet and after enjoying it in the classroom I brought my dad to school and asked the teacher to show Monty to him, my dad liked Monty so two days later we went and bought our own and named her Egypt. She was an awesome pet as well. Easy to take care of and she never missed a meal, I mean NEVER (no finicky eating here) and so we enjoyed her. We had her for eight years and then my mom decided that she didn't want to keep her anymore (even though she didn't pay for food) and so she gave it away to a friend. I went to college and stayed in the dorms, upon my return home from the dorms I have decided that I want to have more now and so I intend to get into breeding and to have BPs for the foreseeable future. Currently I have three.
