Same issue here. I also was told it was because of meningitis. Our local petstore said he almost closed down because of the shortage!

Ny supplier told.me the same thing. The main breeder had to kill off his entire stock and went bankrupt, now he's limited to what he can get only smalls and only thirty five a week and no mice. I started breeding my own but only have about thirty six pinkies right now because I just started.
