We have decorated our house using simple materials. Well, viewing horror movies with my family makes it more enjoyable.

I use to be a huge Halloween nut. I dressed up every year even if it was just to go out for coffee with friends. Sometimes there was a party at someone's house. Sometimes we'd go to a cemetery for creepy pictures. I even went trick or treating well into my 20's. Then my dad died in Oct 5 years ago and that completely took every ounce of joy out of the month. Christmas too.

Now I just carve a pumpkin with my son and take him trick or treating in my warmest plain clothes. Go out for coffee at Denny's afterwards so my son can get all the attention from the employees there that know us. Then go home and go to bed so I can steal some of his candy before I go to work the following day.
