Venting about crack head boss...

Let's be reasonable here. There are plenty of kind, helpful, wholesome crack heads who are legitimate functioning members of society. To group this jerk in with them is unreasonable.


Sorry about that, that is really rough. Maybe your old job will take you back if you left on good terms? You know you have the experience for THAT position :P

I know they would take me back as the owner of the company stated "you will always have a home here unless you give me a reason not to offer you this."

With that said I cannot work with the General Manager. I used to fantacize about punching him in the face everyday. I may not have a choice but I would really rather not go back there.

I can understand not wanting to go backwards. That is hard to do and I wouldn't want to do it again, even though my kids are older and would understand the cutbacks. Good luck. Hope you find something soon.

LWhat you NEED to do is file for unemployment. In this situation, the state SHOULD side with you when you explain the situation.

Quite frankly, this is no longer about your social pride but about your kids. DON'T sit on your rear and kick back, do everything you can to get SOMETHING, ANYTHING that pays. You might actually have to take less, but start at the "I want this much" jobs and then go down the list to "I need this much to survive". You need to think about your kids. If you can get unemployment, take it. You've worked for six years paying into the system, and time before that serving our country. You've more than earned it.

I agree with the re-tooling aspect. It may not be school for you just yet, it may be a new field that WILL train you. But you need to make a lateral move here, you can't necessarily go forward and you definitely can't go backward; so wiggle away and make a decision. Yeah, you put 40 apps in. Put forty more in and one of them NEEDS to be unemployment. You may not like it, but it's about your boys not you right now.

Unemployment is not welfare or "assistance". You contributed to your unemployment insurance on every paycheck. Why not draw what you already contributed your hard earned dollars to? Because of your pride? And yet you have no money to take care of your children? Does....not....compute....

I'd definitely feel no issue applying for unemployment since that's why they suck that money out of the paychecks in the first place. I do understand the "Don't want to get a hand out" though. I've never gotten a dime from the government, and have no intention of doing so. But when you pay for years to unemployment, you might as well use it while you look for a new position.

Good luck finding the new job, I have no doubt you'll get hired because you sound like a hard worker.

While unemployment is not welfare or assistance it doesn't really make up the difference of not working. Unemployment only gives you a portion of what you were making before (in WI it's only about 30%).

If you were having trouble paying bills on what you were making before you won't get by on just unemployment. Also some states have a one week waiting period before you qualify and you have to jump through a ton of hoops. I recently filed for unemployment and it was a month before I got my first payment, but that time I was already working again. I'm not trying to say don't file for unemployment, I'm just saying it's not what some people seem to think it is.

It really sucks that you lost your new job, but at least you have a previous employer that you can return to if you need to.

Having drawn unemployment in the past myself, I am aware just how little you get.... But anything beats a blank, and it sure would help to feed those children.

Unemployment takes too long to get i will have another job before then.

And i want to make one thing perfectly clear. In no way would i ever put my kids in a position where they didnt have a place to sleep or food to eat.

I would crawl on my hands and knees begging before they would go hungry.

With that said i spent all day applyig for jobs and hopefully will hear from something soon.

I want to make it clear that I wasn't, as well as anyone else in here, trying to make that inference. I can tell you're a good father, and we all here want you (and anyone) to succeed and be a regular member of the community here and society.

I just didn't want you to see unemployment as some sort of weakness; you've obviously earned it, and should take no shame in having an actual need for it.

I applaud your inniative!
