Like I've said, I only had him refuse a meal once and that could have been different variables in play, I try to feed without the broth before I dip it just to see if we are at that point and its still refused. I am not afraid of being bitten, i'm not afraid of handling him will cause him to not eat.. As I said my concerns are impaction and the bacteria the broth may spread.. But I do appreciate the input..

One option to avoid impaction and bacteria spread, is to use a piece of acrylic or plastic plate to offer it over that way the action happens on a surface you can remove after it has eaten. Just a thought.

I agree completely. Not so much a worry about getting bit, but my biggest fear in switching to a different tub would be stressing the snake out and preventing it from feeding. Plus as a collection grows not only does feeding become more important, but getting into the habit of moving animals to feed could add hours to the feeding process even in a collection as small as 5 or so.

If impaction is the real worry you could always switch to newsprint bedding and that would stop any concern.

That's a good point about the collection growing as they are addicting..
he's done good with shedding so i'm afraid to switch substrate, but adding a solid surface in it for feeding seems like an interesting idea..

I feed in another enclosure but plan to switch to feeding inside when I get a larger enclosure. My BP has a 10 sec or less feeding response in the separate container!
