Should I start pairing or wait?

So, no personal breeding experience yet, but I would wait. No sense starting something, them stressing them out. I would just let them settle in then start.

Moving to your own place you say? Space for a boa you say???? I'm just sayin'..........:D

Thanks alot for the input guys, I think im just going to wait. I'd rather be safer than sorry and itll only allow my girls to put on more weight.

Also im still not 100% sure my normal is a female soooo my potential clutch number is technically only 2. I'd really like to get both (definite) girls to lay for me and i think waiting would give me the best chances! :)

I'm patient but i dont know if im THAT patient lol. Plus by next year hopefully i got a few multi gene-ers to compete with you big boy. Remember im only pairing single gene animals together this year ;)

Yeah good point lol, I have my PH albino female who's 2000+ grams who I want to pair with my pied so I can start breeding sooner lol. I deff tried to only get 2+ gene animals so I don't have any single geners. I figured any single gene animals I like I will just hold back.

I'm in the same boat here Mike. My females are reaching age and weight but I'm moving in the spring to a place where I'm actually allowed to have them and will be able to take care of the breeding properly. Part of me wants to just pair them and hope they don't lay until after I move. The part of me using my brain is making sure I wait.

You can prob get +1 eggs worth of weight on them before spring. Maybe that +1 egg is gonna be your 2 gene animal. Use that to trick the impatient part of you into waiting.

You know my opinion already :P

While moving is stressful for snakes, its not like no one has ever done it before. And you are moving them to their exact same enclosures so it's not like they will be in a completely foreign place.

I might be moving in the next couple months, but only like 10 minutes from where I currently live. I started pairing my normal in May. I just want to get a head start on my frist clutch, so that when this season rolls around I am not completely clueless when I have 3 more clutches :)

Moving them to a different tub in the same rack can throw them off :P
Personally I would wait, but that's just me and my experience moving females that have been bred.

It comes down to your choice. I personally would wait a little. Patience is the key to a successful breeding program. I know that waiting is really hard to do, but in the long run it will pay you back many times over. Good luck in deciding.
