Marla is absolutely right. I'm one of those who came here first and found no reason to move on. Thanks to Godfather, the mods, and the admins, this place just keeps improving. Since joining this forum, I've checked in on others, and they just don't compare. The visual appeal, the exchange of knowledge, the community atmosphere are far superior!

Well heres my update thus far. Looks like plissken is taking a break from eating. Im not sure how long this is gonna last but I wasnt expecting it to happen so soon. I figured yeah maybe when hes almost full grown or maybe next autumn but he sniffed the F/T mouse practicaly licked it, pulled his head back and went about his buisiness. It cant be my temps or humidity,Im obsesive with them.It cant be due to over handling he hasnt been touched in over a week. There is no noise or traffic in his room other than when I check up on him. The only thing I can possibly think of is last thursday I moved his cage to the other side of the room, but I made sure I did it while he was sleeping so as not to freak him out. That or the fact that I offered that rat on Sunday.

It's a little soon to worry about a strike. My suggestion is skip trying to feed again til a week from Sunday, and then either feed a mouse or a small rat scented with mouse.

Marla do you think I should handle him at all during the wait?
-
sure, I don't see a problem with it if he doesn't seem off otherwise. The rat was probably just bigger than he was willing to try and intimidated him and he's a little food-shy. He just needs to work up a good appetite, is all.

On the topic of the supportiveness of this community, it is unreal. I have visited a lot of places myself because i wanted to gain as much knowledge & get as many opinions as possible. I came here second on the recommendation of TigerGenesis who helped me out the most the first few days i had Hissy. But i have spent some time on other boards & even in some chatrooms where you ask questions on the basics & get totally blown off or made to feel like an idiot.
On top of it, when i was askin about Hissy's hissing, i was told that i was stupid for wanting to handle her. I was told that herps are not meant to be handled. They are pets you are only supposed to have to look at & you should only handle them when you have to clean their tank or cage.
Then I come here & we talk about giving our snakes kisses! LOL!! I still do check out other forums every now & again, mostly for a good laugh or to recruit people (like Rex) who seem genuinely interested in learning about their pets. But this is my home & this is where I love to be when it comes to talkin herps! You guys are the best! Thank you Godfather & crew for making this the best home on the web for herp care & share!!
