I thought about the bucket thing at first too, but ASFs can sure jump... It would surely be great for mice or rats, but Im not sure how effective it would be for an ASF.....

A bucket of water... They can't jump out of water.

Exactly why the water pitcher works, they can't jump out. Most of my rats can jump out of a bucket fairly easily and I'd bet the asf could too. But if there's enough water to not let them stand in it, they have to swim, then there's nothing to push off of to jump up.

Sorry for the delay. I had some medical issues come up so I've been busy. Anyways one of the rats has been caught in a make shift trap I made the other has been extremely elusive so I will try out some of the ideas u guys have given me. Thanks for the ideas!

For an update the the second rat has yet to be caught. She's figured out how to get out of my trap so I need to get a new trap. My father has a trap he uses to catch chipmunks in his yard so hopefully that should work. I just need to go borrow it from him.

The trap is and old mouse cage my brother used for pet mice when we were little kids. It's like a habi-trail type enclosure with holes where u connect the tubes. Basically I left one hole open and taped a heavy plastic container lid on the inside so if the rat pushed from the outside it could get in but from the inside it wouldn't be able to. It's not escape proof though and the second one figured out how to get out pretty easily and just raids it for food.
