Re: What lizard for my wife?
My vote is on leopard gecko. Tons of colors to choose from. They calm down with minimum handling. They stay hand sized. Don't need uv lighting or high heat. Pretty active and do just fine on calcium dusted meal worms. Even my babies I just put a ton of worms in a dish and let them eat what they want. I look in on them daily and actually only have to refill the worm dish about twice a week. I buy crickets like once a month as a treat and only enough to give all of them 3 or 4 each. But lizards are more maintenance than a snake. I say if not a Leo then get her a tarantula. Only eat a couple times a week and can hang out on the monitor while she works.
Re: What lizard for my wife?
Been looking and reading (We don't take our pets lightly) She's still undecided between a crestie and a Bearded Dragon. BDs are a bit more work, but their personality sure seems to make up for that.
I watched a youtube vid of a dragon playing ant smasher on an iPhone and went and looked at them in person. Their "WTF are you looking at!" attitude when you get close to the cage has me sold.
From what I've read, an adult Dragon eats less often and less crickets... That wouldn't be too bad, so maybe we need to look at ones that arent babys.
Our main concern is when we go away for the weekend, we don't have anyone to feed the little guy while we're away.
Re: What lizard for my wife?
I'd suggest a uromastyx as well. They are pretty legit lizards, eat 98% veggies (tossed mine an insect every once in awhile), look straight up awesome and can be tamed if you take the time to do so (buying a CBB uro is your best bet for getting a tameable one). Check out the Ornate Uromastyx if you wanna see an outstandingly beautiful lizard, though I personally prefer the vibrant color of a fat healthy yellow Saharan.
