They dont really look like ax's to me tho i have very little experience with the morph. If they are i wouldnt have bought them personally, way too brown imo.

They appear to be axanthics to me, and in my opinion TSK is the poorest line of axanthics out there. You didn't get screwed but in my opinion you picked a brown axanthic morph and also snakes that were already browning out.

What are other factors determine an ax besides the greyish pigment?

I mean to my untrained eyes they look pretty much the same as my normal lol...

You can see some areas close to the belly that should have some color but are completely white. By definition an axanthic animal will lack xanthophores, which produce yellow pigment. If you look at the pictures, especially the third one, you can see that no yellow pigment is present.

I think this is a clear cut case of you get what you pay for.
If you bought those snakes from a reputable breeder, then chances are, they are SK Axanthics. I have seen some that I knew were Axanthics and would have sworn they were normals. Maybe they are going through a shed? The SK's have some very cool stuff, but their Axanthics are not the nicest looking for the most part. I would buy Het VPI over visual SK Axanthics. If they DO turn out to be Axanthics, and you breed them, I hope you get nicer looking and silver babies. Otherwise, you might be stuck with a bunch of Axanthics. Now, that is all bad news, but I have some good news. I think the SK line might be the best line to make True Ghosts with, so, maybe you go that route.
