i do however have my racks and supplies and breed plus sell surplus rodents(they pay for themselves!! its sweet..) so basically all i pay for is disinfectant and snakes! My mom is my investor and all i have to do is pay her back or im screwed....so far ive been able to do that working with 200 - 300 dollar animals. but im not sure about moreexpensive

What time frame do you want?? Recoup in 1 year? 2? 5? 10?

A high end morph will pay for itself eventually.

Ex (prices pulled from thin air)
    Quad morph (5k) bred to a normal(250)
    6 eggs
    50/50 normal to morph
Lowest price for a morph is 200

Thats 750 a year. X 10 years..7500 thus it has paid for itself

Obviously thats a return on your investment. Not great but a return all the same.

In my reading and research on this subject I find morphs hit a bottom like any item.. Such as i doubt you will ever see an albino priced at 50 bucks, or a lesser at 25..

In my above example, change that normal to even a pastel and your return time on investment drops significantly

Im sure its already been said but aside from some of the high dollar stuff that is still out of most hobby breeder hands I would say clown, pied, champagne, and calico are holding value pretty steady probably because people really like them. I'd be looking at some genes that people are undervalueing and underestimating that are still pretty cheap such as sable and genetic stripe and I'm thinking once new combos come out their price might start to raise. Just a thought.

so the general opinion is that if i invest in some high end ball pythons, in 4 years i should most likely at least broken even:clap:

if you invest in a higher end morph, my best advice and already been posted. have enough base morph females to support the purchase of a male thats going to cost you more than what you like to spend.

You could spend $2-2.5K on a breeder sized pair of Pieds and get you money back this season. They're out there if you like shopping and beating down doors. I paid $1250 for my female Pied and $750 for my male. I'm just got one more female at 800g for next years project as well.... Pastel Pieds.

About the lowest I've seen any pied hatchlings going for is $650-ish. 4 eggs and you're in the black.
