I use the blue or pink ridged foam insulation. I use the 1/2 (connector type no rabbits on the edge) for the bottom and sides and 1.5 inch on the top. and back. I don't cover the vent holes over though. I just tape the foam to itself and just wrap it around in the summer I take it off.
