Gutloading & Calcium for Leos

Hey guys...I just got back and I have to be 18 so my mom is picking me up to take me. But I did pick up reptocal.

Also I am gonna pick up a big plastic container for the crix...I already have one for the mealies. I have a big container with like 50 mealies and some apples.....with oatmeal. But I just picked up 500 lol

LOL...I keep looking for that secret, too, Marla. It's one reason I've waited as long as I have before trying to get a beardie. Crickets are a big deterent. I've walked by the big cricket tanks in my pet store tons of times, though. It's not quite so horrific as you'd thing...just a bit creepy. LOL

Judy, I'm actually okay with them in the tanks, though not enthusiastic about the noise. It's what happens when you open the tank that I have a problem with! I don't want crickets all over my house. I'd have to have free-roaming lizards then, I think!

The ones in the pet store are in deep tanks, so they can't get out. I don't think they jump very high...

John suggested a 10-gal as a suitable enclosure, and I pictured thousands of free-roaming crickets in my house. ::shivers:: yuck!

we order by the thousand, gutload with a variety of products and foods, depending on the species who are feeding off them.
We keep ours in a huge rubbermaid tub, keep milk crates stacked flat instead on up and down, so their is less chance of escapes. Sometimes it happens, but we have the best cricket catcher, our four year old! He loves to catch them, and we lift him up to let him feed them to the fish.
I'll double check the products we use for vit / mineral/ calcium powder. Again on the latter it depends on the animal we are feeding too.

Awwwwww....that's the cutest mental image I've had all day! Who wouldn't want a couple of free-roaming crickets with a tyke like that around???
