I'm going to take a different stance here. I admit to having the problem of noticing that someone has made a mistake and pointing it out. In my mind, I'm not doing it to be mean or to upset anybody, it just bugs me a bit to know that someone has the wrong information. I can see how sometimes it can come off as mean or as an attack, but I can say for 100% sure if it comes from me it isn't meant that way. Its just my big mouth (or in this case, thumbs. Lol).
Also I've noticed its very hard to convey emotion or the right emphasis in text format. With peoples trust in auto correct and spell check, its easy to confuse tones. I've probly made some mistakes in typing this, so I'm guilty for it too. Here's a funny example of what I'm talking about:
"Let's eat, grandpa"
Totally harmless sentence but let's remove the comma.
"Let's eat grandpa"
Takes on a whole new meaning.
Basically I think the lesson that keeps coming up is to take everyone's opinion as just that, an opinion. Especially on forums, where you could get multiple answers to a question and they are all good ideas. And for those comments people make that correct or are taken as inappropriate, just ignore them, or if it actually harms your feelings, report them to the MODS. Then they can take appropriate actions. Let's face it, we all know right from wrong, don't we guys/gals? TTFN
