X2. Happens occasionally, not sure why. If the male starts to bang around, I move him back to his tub and attempt again later. Also, X2 on learning to sex the snakes yourself and making sure.

X3 I had this happen last year with a male pastel. I thought WTH is all that banging and it was him flipping out, thumping his body, flipped the water dish. He settled down and locked pretty quickly after all the ruckous. Her clutch is hatching now so I am sure she was not a he.
Give the male a week and try again. Hopefully you don't have 2 males and the probing was correct. Only time will tell. Do you have another male to put with the female? She if the same thing happens.
Re: problem with male breeder.
i have a male that does this when introduced to a female, more when i put her in his cage than when i put him in hers. looks like he thinks he's in a mosh pit. he like bucks and nudges and tail whips like a crazy lizard. i just let them go, they're not made of glass. had there been some biting or more obvious signs of real "fighting" i would have separated. after an hour or so he quits and locks up. she went on to lay eggs and he was obviously the sire (didnt need to call maury). everyone is right though, never hurts to double check sexes. this snake had no name for 2 years. after witnessing his breeding habits we named him Ike.
