I have asked for more pictures under different lighting as well just to make sure theres nothing fishy going on.
I honestly think he's going to brown out a lot. My girl Kali looked a lot like that when I first got her and she's browned out now. She did have a lot more speckling, but she was similarly colored. My washed out whitish one is still looking pretty nice, but she's still small. She seems to like hunger strikes so I haven't been able to put much size on her. I would give yours a 6-7 rating because I think he's going to brown out.

Last weekend in shed - her speckling is a lot more obvious when she is in shed but she still has a really nice light yellow color to her:
