How much should I expect to spend on a female spider? I know they normally sell around $200-$250 from a breeder over the internet, but are they any less expensive by purchasing it at the expo? Is the only real savings on the cost of shipping? Also, being that this is my very first expo to attend, can you generally haggle a bit to lower the price? Just trying to know what I'm getting into before I actually get there.

Slightly off-topic, but just wanted to make sure you know you can't make killer bees with a female (or male) spider. Both parents have to contribute a pastel gene.

Yes, I know this. I have purchased a 1.1 pastel pair that will be arriving via the fedex fairy as soon as it cools off. Because I LOVE genetics, I'm going to work my way up to killer bees. First super pastels and bees, then eventually (once my holdbacks are big enough), make some killerbees. Once my pastels will arive and I pick up my female spider, I'll have:
    0.1 normal
    1.1 pastel ph albino
    0.1 spider

Making bees and killer bees is just a breeding goal I have for the next few years. I'm in no hurry to get killer bees next year. I like to take things slow and watch genetics in action. My other breeding project is albino pieds (though...quite a ways off). If my pastels prove out, I'll get a pied to pair with any albinos I make. And if they don't prove out, I'll work on getting some albinos as soon as I reach my goal of killerbees.

Breeding is completely a hobby of mine. I just want to see what I can create when I manipulate genetics. If I make money in the end, good for me! I'll just put it towards more projects.
