    I would suggest a herpstat 1 it has more safety features than any other. The VE and helix are basically the same but the ve stacks, a basic unit. The price is so close to the same that for an extra 20$ and the added security of the herpstat I would not bother with the VE.

    x2 to the above ^. I bought a Herpstat 1 for my hatchling rack for just that reason and a Herpstat 2 for my two adult racks, as $20 is pretty cheap for peace of mind. I have a Helix on my quarantine rack and it's fine...but only just fine. I won't buy another one and will replace it with a Herpstat if it goes out or I hit the lottery...so when it goes out, given my luck, lol! I have yet to breed any of my animals but will be trying for this year with a homemade incubator and a Herpstat I running it.

    Only a proportional one. As long as it's proportional and not cheap it should do well. I use helix and vivarium for everything (with back ups on EVERYTHING!!!).

    thanks guys for the help. im just trying to get things set up in case my snakes breed this year or next, it will be my 1st time breeding bps and i'd like to prepare ahead of time.
