If you're dead set on buying in person, hit up Tinley Park's NARBC in October. I think the morelia guys will be there in force again, though I don't know what kind of hatchling selection to expect. The last time I was there (2010? 2009?) there was a good selection.

No other show, except for seeing John Battaglia at a small Wisconsin expo, had any carpets that grabbed any serious potential buying attention from me.

The buyer's dilemma is as such: You want an outstanding animal. The best way to pick out an outstanding animal is in person. The absolute best and most top notch animals available for sale get snatched up before you can see them in person.

The only way I have the snakes I waited for is because I put a down payment on a pair BEFORE THE CLUTCH WAS EVEN LAID.

Would love to take my kids to the Tinley but it is a long drive from Buffalo to Chicago.

Re: Considering a Jaguar Jungle Carpet Python
I actually adopted a beautiful adult female jaguar JCP. She has neuro issues. She has the star gazing, corkscrewing etc. She is one of the sweetest snakes I own. I adopted her as an adult and was fully aware of her condition. She isn't as tree dwelling as my other carpet pythons. She climbs around but prefers the terranuim floor or atop her low level hide. The previous owner was actually trying to breed her when i got her. So sad. She's got a great home now. She eats great and has amazing sheds. She sits on my lap when I watch the Telly. She gets on great with my cats and chihuahuas. A very happy gal. She has one of the nicest personalities a snake could have. Literally puppy dog tame.

If you want a top quality carpet python, I highly suggest you make that drive. It's really not that bad. And the host hotel is gorgeous and very reasonably priced for the expo. I went in October 2012 and there was a wonderful selection of carpets. The Chondro Coalition was there and the morelia guys were set up next to them. Between the 2 groups, they took up almost the ENTIRE back wall of the convention center.

There are a few very good breeders of carpets out there. And while you will get a nice animal from any one of them and can trust their word on the neurological issues, if you are looking for a truly TOP quality animal, the only way to assure you get what you want is to see it in person.

But if you absolutely cannot make that drive and need to have an animal shipped, then take a look at Reptileexperts' IJ granites (Nick Mutton lines), Inland Reptiles (Nick Mutton himself), Australian Addictions, and AC Reptiles. These guys will be producing the TOP of the top animals, but its likely that those animals won't be available - they'll be holding them back or they'll be sold before they're out of the egg. But all of these guys will ship you a very very nice animal for sure - and they will all know the history and any neurological issues and they will be honest about it. :gj:
