Snake safe air fresheners or incense?

well i was curious about teh carpet cleaner.. i just moved and the previous tenant had a cat and the carpet has musty cat smell its not terrible but i want to do a scrub.. i will move critters out while i do the scrub down but is there anything recommended that is reptile safe and will kill cat smell?

I've read that incense is dangerous to birds, and to reptiles but that was an extreme case (the entire room was smoke from incense and the commenter could barely see)
