excellent thank you guys! I read that you were thinking of doing an E - book Marla. I just wanted to say if you needed help I would be more than willing to assist I think it is a great idea. You could even include various first timer shopping lists i.e. aquarium set-ups vs shelving set-ups vs rubbermaid set-ups and just make a shopping list - just a thought. I'll help collect info or type things up whatever - just an offer in case you needed any.

That's a very nice offer! I might take you up on it. If I do put together the e-book, though, it won't be mine -- I'd just edit and assemble it to put together useful information for bp owners in one place. The shopping list idea is a good one, too. Thanks!

    Hey...JamminJonah...welcome to the forum!

First off...big kudos to you for doing your research and getting everything set up before you actually get your snake. You'd be surprised at how many people buy them on impulse and have no idea what they're getting into, no idea how to care for it, and no proper environment to house it in. I know it took me a couple weeks of fiddling to get the cage just right for my first (and thus far only) snake. And I was like you...a very nervous first-timer, even though I'd researched the heck out of it!

Your avatar pic doesn't work because geocities doesn't allow remote links like that. But you can set up your own album right here, upload your pics and know your links will always work!

Everyone else has pretty much answered all your direct questions, so I won't add too much more. Just to say that there are a lot of different ways to do things. You can use hemostats or tongs to dangle mice...whatever seems comfortable to you. I believe you can get hemostats at places like BigApple. And if you get lucky, you'll have a snake that takes food dropped right on the floor without any of the dancing games.

Anyhow...you'll get to know your snake and what works best for both of you. Everyone talks about how stressed out the snakes can be when they get moved into a new home...but my goodness...us conscientious owners stress out at least as much!! :)

Yeah, as JLC said, great to see owners doing their research. The search feature on the forum will pull up archives of over 12,000 posts.

So do you already know which bp you're getting? WC or CB?

CB for sure - a male around a year old or so. I'm gonna get the money to the guy by friday of this week and recieve my little guy on March 17th (Weds. I think it is). So I am very excited but want to get any possiblle kinks worked out ahead of time so that he has a better chance of eating and a lower level of stress. That is a great quote by the way Godfather, I'm taking some Political comm courses now and Mike is dead on haha.
