I dont weigh at all. I feed a prey item slightly larger than their fattest part. Some weeks they may get a bit smaller and some weeks they may get a bit bigger. For my bigger girls they dont get rats bigger than 100ish grams. Thats the biggest rat i will offer to them weekly. They dont need more than that.

Look at your snake and offer it a rat thats about the same size or slightly larger than its fattest part of its body. Dont get caught up in all the 10-15% thing. It doenst need to be that technical imo. :gj:

Is that an assortment size on f/t or something? Sorry, I'm not familiar with ordering f/t. We breed rats and asf's on a small scale, and supplement with live purchased from our local supplier when we don't have enough. Then can occasionally take a larger meal. They will eat it, I would just wait a bit longer between feedings. I hate that kind of weird stage between sizes.

Lol, yeah couldn't tell when I last weighed "dinner". If they look good, they go in. I had three that got a more "medium" rat today, because we didn't have any small. Yeah, they horked em down. :D

Yea i assume he meant f/t doolittle. Im guessing your bee put down the medium rat then looked around for seconds haha?

I was referring to f/t as well just for clarification^

Yea my baby ghost definetly got a little bit of a larger meal this past week. It was about double the size of her fattest part but she got it down just fine. Shes growing faster than my lesser anyways and a much more aggressive eater so i knew she'd be fine.

OP thats something else i have to add. You have to know your snakes and what theyre capable of. Both my males are super aggressive eaters who never miss a meal. So if i ever have a refusal they usually get it. On those weeks they definetly get more than 10-15% but then the next week i give them a meal thats a normal size for them so it balances out. You'll learn that some of the golden rules that are spread around are not set in stone. :gj:

Yea i meant f/t sorry for the slow replies im so tired from the UK but yeah, thanks for your replies very much appreciated, i will read these posts tomorrow and reply but ye thanks,
and i think my guy would easily tackle bigger food he has a great feeding response and swallows within seconds so his next meal i am going to jump him up to large mice then go and buy some rat weanling's.

Yea go for it. A monster meal every week will make him fat, but one that gives him a belly bulge is good! :gj:

Whatever you think would be better. If hes out hunting on the 5th nite go ahead and feed him. I feed every 7-10days but im thinking about doing a 4 day schedule for my 2 babies since they seem to get hungrier sooner.

Yes Mike, my bee was one that chowed a medium. Nothing wrong with a girl that likes to eat....;)
