Question on poop?

The temps stay between 85-90 on his hot spot daily. 40-50% humidity is what I try and keep him at. Any suggestions on a better bedding? I was thinking of switching to reptibark.

This is what he is i'm now. Its different now, has a florescent in it and moved around. Having trouble with humidity. should I add another heat lamp? I've actually noticed the temps haven't been as high as I like at night

Definately needs to be warmer. Like 90-91 hot spot, ambient should stay 80-81. Now, if it is a regurge, you are going to need to wait a week or two to feed him and start back again with a smaller meal too. I would get him warmer though. 85 for a hot spot is a shade to cold. I don't think that lamp inside is his enclosure is a good idea either, he could get a burn from it. As far as bedding, mines on aspen.

Wow thank you for the tips. That's the lamp that came in it. So what would you recommend for heating in it? I'll be buying him bedding this weekend. Ill try the aspen.

Aside from the possibility of a burn, the lamp is drying the cage out. For heating your setup i would look into a radiant heat panel or belly heat in the form of an ultratherm or flexwatt. DrDooLittle's temps are ideal, and as far as bedding if you're looking to up humidity i would go with cypress mulch. Aspen is perfectly fine and used by a lot of boa keepers, but my personal preference is the cypress mulch. I would definitely not recomment reptibark for boas, as it's designed more for monitors. At night it isn't a problem if the temperatures drop around 5 degrees but you're gonna want to keep the ambiant temp at at least 70 at night, preferably closer to 75.

x2 on the belly heat, that lamp is sucking the humidity out of the air and besides, a fluorescent bulb is doing nothing for your boa anyway. There are UTH pads you can get from pet stores, but anything you get should be paired with a thermostat, seeing as most of them run much too hot normally. I use aspen bedding with my boa, and it works pretty well.
