Setting up a humidifier

This one's powered by an aquarium pump as well. The trick was finding an air pump that was adjustable and generated a high enough airflow to make the project worthwhile. Most of the aquarium pumps out there only generate about 1.2 liters per minute and are fixed at that rate. Most of the high flow, adjustable pumps I've seen are ridiculously expensive.

I invested in the Zoo Med Repti Fogger and it's done wonders. So easy to tweak, maintain etc. Solved ANY humidity problems I had and helped 100% in the shed process etc.

Went ahead and tried out the air pump idea. The airpump I got has 2 outlets so I stick those into water bottles and stuck a bubble stone on each. Then have a line coming out of the top of each bottle and into my terrarium. So far hasn't made any appreciable difference. Maybe I need to put both lines in one bottle to increase air pressure. I'll tinker with it some more. Any pointers?

I can't seem to find a thread on this on these foums but I know I've see one before.

I was concerned that something like this would be overkill and create too much humidity. Maybe I'll have to look into that.

No way is it overkill. If anything unless you use in conjunction with closing off portions of an open top tank setup like mine I have never gotten mine to crank to humidity to over maybe mid 80's. Any if you find one on say an Amazon they are much cheaper than a pets store. I personally just cut a hole the size of the type that feeds the fog and it works fine. NO hydrostat I think that would be overkill =)

How long do you let it run for? How adjustable is it?

I just ghetto-rigged the Penguin shaped humidifier from my sons room with a piece of flexible tubing. My snake seems to like it. He is sitting right underneath it. Unfortunately it's a bit too much maybe the Zoomed will be less powerful. This thing is designed to humidy a room after all. The top of my tank is sealed off for the most part. I cut some plexi and fit it to the openings in the tank top, except under the two heat lamps.

Mine looks just like that. Although I chose the cool side corner and it mostly tucked away. It's adjusts via a wheel and the range is from a barely perceptible mist to a dark fog in the whole enclosure. And yes my BP SOMETIMES will sit right under it but not often. If your worried about looks just a bit of cleverness and you will be fine velcro in tank and on back of tube to attach snug and a plant suctioned in front etc.

Found a humidifier at walgreens: http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/wal...040512-product. Works like charm. Can adjust the output from barely noticable to full blast and fog the cage. Should be perfect to run at 15 minute increments a few times a day.
