Um kind of actually. If genes are allelic to each other that means they sit on the same locus, on which there's only 2 spots for those genes. For example in the BEL complex, all the genes are allelic to each other so on that locus you can have 2 of any combo of the genes in that complex like mojo and mojo or mojo and lesser but you can't have another gene from that complex cuz there no where for it to sit, it lost in musical chairs basically lol. I hope that made made at least half sense. Hopefully someone else can come in and explain more. If no one does and the link below confuses you, you can pm me and I'll try to explain more cuz I understand it pretty thoroughly.:D

The basic genetics lesson on here helped me a lot, I didn't understand til I read it a couple times. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52847

    Pics please!

    Thanks!

LOVE that combo! Shooting for that with my vanilla mojave boy and my firefly girl, she gets up to size/weight in the next year or two. I agree with what has been state, there is a lot of untapped potential with the vanilla gene as far as combos. I liken it to the fire and yellowbelly animals as far as how it interplays with other genes; tends to lighten and "clean" them up from the few combos I've seen. Aaaaaand PhotoBucket is down or I'd post some shots of my vanilla mojave boy. Anyway, if she's anything decent (to the OP), jump on it!

Just a novice question. Is there a way to tell the difference between a vanilla from a normal. Other than the blushing on the head. To me the pattern isn't that different. And they look normalish...
