    They are nice but like to put on a show. They hiss, huff and puff, hood, and strike. They strike with a closed mouth so they really just tap you. Westerns eat mice. They are smaller snakes and will be eating mouse pinks for a long time.

    I had northern water snakes, I had to babies because the female I caught was pregnant and dropped her litter in my snake bag while I was feild herping 12 perfect babies. After I released them I found one of the two again a few months later(and he/she got big!).

    Of course your mom doesn't have to even see the f/t rats. I keep mine in a paper sack in the freezer, bottom shelf (I have a stand up freezer). Also, she won't hear an f/t rat squeal. When I first got my pastel and had to feed him a little, tiny, eyes closed rat and he hit that rat and squeezed. I felt bad because that little thing didn't know what hit it and it was squealling. It sucked at first but now that my BPs are on f/t it's no biggie...hehehe
