That's what I thought. Bobba is getting injections of Baytril. They showed me how to inject at the vet.

I know oral antibiotics aren't AS effective as injections, but it's not like they're completely ineffective or anything. My mojave got over an RI a few months ago and we were given oral medication for him and he did just fine. Granted, if you had a really, really serious case and it was more advanced, I would definitely want injections just so it was taken care of faster, but oral meds CAN still work :)

To the OP: I hope he's feeling better soon! Sounds like you're taking good care of him!

Edit: Definitely not trying to start a debate :) Just pointing it out.

I couldn't do oral. I would be terrified I'd get it in the snake's lung. Giving the shots wasn't hard to learn to do, of course I had a head start since I give shots to my cats, dogs, ferret, birds, a friends rabbit, guinea pigs, and rats.

Just do be careful giving him oral, and I hope with all my heart he gets over it quickly and easily.

I've got help giving him the oral medication with someone who is a lot more experienced. I know I need to grow a pair and do it but at home the only option was oral. The vets is quite a way, I don't drive, neither does Grant. Unfortunately, for reasons I won't disclose as they're personal, we wouldn't be able to make it to and from the vets every other day for the injections.

I'm not making excuses, I do anything and everything I can for my snakes but this couldn't come at a worse time. He is also a very bad traveller. I'm doing what I can, and what I am more confident with doing. I'd never forgive myself if I did it wrong and something happened to him.

The only way I've ever given injections is to myself!
