    My first year I had eggs starting to dry out. I buried them most of the way and right away they plumped back up again. I wouldn't worry too much, unless they start to turn red and green looking. Then start to worry.

    It looks way too wet and the egg is getting wet, making it translucent. I use mostly perlite instead of vermiculite, it isn't quite as wet, but it does hold humidity well. I don't bury mine like that tho, they are mostly sitting on top of the perlite where i've just gently made a little dip to hold them in place...
