    Re: Need Help With hatchlings???
Do you see their noses poking out? Usually they absorb the yolk once they start breathing air. And just from my experience, once their noses pop out and they are breathing air, you can expect them completely out of the egg the next day, or day after.

Alright so heres an update. And its not looking to good.

One of the BELs is finally starting to poke its head out and is looking great. We did have one of the mojaves died today. Its umbilical cord was in a knot but we just couldnt tell in time. The other mojave and what looks like a pastave. (double sire clutch possibly) are doing fine. But the second BEL is starting to not look to hot. We cut the opening in the top bigger to see whats going on and sure enough the umbilical was wrapped around the snake and in a knot. The BEL died not 30 seconds after noticing it.

This is the first clutch this year still got alot to go threw but its not looking to good. Cant believe 2 snakes in the first clutch had this happen.

There is nothing you can do about that! Things happen in the egg that is out of our control. I only cut after the first pips but day 59 should be more than fine to cut. Most of mine pip around day 55-56. Don't beat yourself about it! Just move on! Good luck with your future clutches!

I do not think you did anything wrong! And you most certainly can not help or cause a knotted umbilical cord. It just happens.

Good luck with your remaining clutches! At least all your bad luck has happened now :)
