Your feeding methods?

I have a designated "snake bowl" that I got for Kaa, and before feeding I thaw the mice in and set it on top of the wire-mesh of his cage so he gets a good nose full. By the time it's thawed out he's normal got his head out of his hide and is looking all over the place for he num-nums. By that time, I don't really have to do much. I use tongs to grab the mouse by the tail and before I can even begin a "Zombie dance" he snatches it. Sometime he takes it so fast I don't even see him move or hardly have a chance to get into the tank.

I'm so glad he's a beast when it comes to feedings. Hopefully it will make my switch to rats easy.

My guy is a beast at eating but he doesn't even take more then too looks at a rat he just ignores it.

I have a feeling this will be the case with Kaa as well. I tried to get him on rat pups around the time I got him. All he did was tilt his little snake head to the side and look at me like: "Lady. You are an idiot."

I thaw over night in the fridge, 3 or 4 hours before feeding I bring them out to warm to room temp. An hour before feeding I place them on a human heating pad in the snake room and heat them to 95º or so, and then hair drier the head to 100º+ and feed with 12" hemostats.

Once everybody is fed start back from the beginning and

Open tub, make sure rat is gone, remove rat if un-eaten and repeat...

All the un-eaten rats (not many) usually go as a second serving to the voracious eaters so I don't have to take them back to the rat room. ;)

Lol, that's our experience. Just took a video the other day of feeding time. I can't get my tubs closed fast enough before the rats are grabbed and coiled up at the back. I had a single survivor the other day, and he wasn't the slightest bit nervous when I pulled him out.. so I spared his life as a breeder in an attempt to pass on some calm to future generations :P

Thaw in tub with water
Towel dry the rodents after they defrosted
Blowdry the rats in the room till they are dry an warm then hit the dead with a blast from the blowdryer for a few seconds then feed off.
This method has worked best for me other than using live. I will pretty much never have a snake refuse unless its in shed.

I'm so glad that nobody is arguing about live feedings anymore. I haven't seen a fight about that for like 2 months.

Anyways...I take the fuzzy out of the freezer, thaw it, feed it. Lol that's pretty much it with my juvenile corn. She would probably eat one still frozen. With my 3 1/2 foot corn, I just grab a mouse from the rack, euthanize it, then give it to her.

I used to feed her live. The problem was that she would take foreverrr to shed unless I fed her. And she is sooo blind when she's in shed that she has problems striking the dead ones. I didn't want to go back and forth from dead to live, so I just stuck with p/k.

Get up, go to pet store, look at all the reptiles and tell them I need one small rat and one medium rat.
Pay, go home, take the logs off of my snakes so they know they need to wake up.
Throw in the rats, wait for the show to begin.
A day later, cuddle them.

Hmm, some get live, some get p/k. Open tub, in goes rat. Wait for strike on live eaters, close tub on p/k eaters. Move on. Left overs, go to the piggies... No more pita f/t for me.
