Because you have some problem animals in your collection. Not meaning to offend here, just gathering info

I said females specifically, but now that you bring it up... There is a contingent that thinks males should not be bred either, and I can see their point. Go read the 107 page long thread on this over at BLBC. you have a 25% chance of hitting a female with Desert in her. Where are all of these females going to go. Would you keep all of them that you produce and have that many mouths to feed that will return zero production. You are right that a handful of the especially nice ones can be sold as pets. But regardless of the number of genes, there is only so much someone will pay for a sterile pet Ball Python. The other issue of releasing all of the females to the pet trade, is that there will be folks without the knowledge or moral scruples to not breed these girls, and they will kill many of them in the process.

It is up to an individual to decide, but much more thought and research needs to be put in to it by that person. At this point breeding a female is pretty much reckless and irresponsible animal ownership. It has been 10 years without a single viable EGG, much-less clutch, and girls are dying in the process.

Like I said there are threads here and on other forums that go very deep into this and it is not worth rehashing here. In addition some of those threads have actual vets and genetics experts weighing in.

As far as the original question, I do not know if Desert X Desert has been tried. But, there is zero reason genetically or biologically to suspect that it will make a difference.
