    I can't add much that isn't something everyone has said already. You're awesome, and I always enjoy reading your posts on here. As someone who comes from a giant family of mostly morticians, with a couple of medical professionals mixed in, there will be someone who is absolutely blown away by what you're able to do on living people, and what you can do to save lives.

    The cat is a tough situation. It's always infuriated me that some people have an attitude towards pets to where they see them as expendable. The whole "I don't want to take care of it anymore so I just won't" just makes me want to punch them in the throat. You even see it here on BP.net in the form of people getting tons of snakes and then having a collection sale a couple weeks/months afterwards. Ridiculous. Maybe put a listing in craigslist looking for shelters in particular? I'm surprised the vet wasn't able to give you a list.

    Keep your chin up, and we'll do our best to keep you occupied here :P May not be much as far as a single's scene, but hey, we're clownish at least!

    If he felt that way about you then it truely wasnt meant to be. Keep in mind not all guys are jackasses, we just get a bad rap really. Remember every princess has to kiss a few toads before she finds the frog prince! I think a surgeon is an AWESOME career. You get to help people by cutting them lol.

    As far as the cat i cant really help. I wouldnt have taken it from the friend in the first place bc i hate them lol.

    Sorry to hear about your foot, that sucka but i guess its kinda part of the job. I would hang in there and keep working hard. Someday youll reach your goal of becoming a successful surgeon and find Mr. Right!
    And if i ever hurt myself ill request to be flown out to be operated on by you! :gj:

    (i expect the bp.net family discount too) ;)

    I just wanted to thank everybody who took the time to reply to this thread. You all seriously helped me feel so much better then I did at the time of posting. I just need to chin up and stop being down about it. I think I need to take this time to find myself again and focus on my career and future. :)

    One last quick little note on the kitty.

    You are looking for small shelters, not big fancy ones with buildings and rent and overhead. If there are any mom and pop pet shops in your area, those are the people to talk to. Hit up Craigslist, usually it isn't hard to find a nice little local group who can help out. Be honest with the landlady. Tell her you are trying very hard, but the shelters you have contacted are all expecting big fees to take this cat. Tell her you are still searching, and you promise to have it off the premises as soon as you can. Maybe offer to pay a small fee with your rent for her patience and understanding. { This tactic worked like a charm for me once. The manager said it wasn't necessary at all, but it helped her believe I was trying. }

    Update on the Cat!:gj:

    Today was my deadline for getting rid of the cat, and thankfully - right before I was about to go grovel to the landlady again,I got a call from a small rescue about an hour away from here. One of the shelters I had tried earlier this week made some phone calls and found this place for me. It's a no kill shelter that normally has a fee but they took him in for free for me - and in a week or so he will be in the foster system. I'm very happy that I was able to take him to a place like that. They were all very friendly and the place looked really nice.

    It just broke my heart to give him up. I've gotten more than a little attached to him during the time he spent with me.
