I would try switching out the log hides for something that would provide him with some more coverage and security (ie, he is basically completely enclosed by it) and also have the hides be the same thing/same size. See if that helps.

I have a Red bulb heating the tank 24/7 and a matt underneath the hot side. I'm feeding him every 7-9 days a hopper.

Does the heat mat have a thermostat regulating it?

That is your problem, I guarantee it.

Unregulated heat mates get hot enough to kill your snake.

What type of thermometers are you using?

I highly suggest that you read this thread, it explains the dangers of unregulated heat mats (aka UTH's) and things like thermostats/thermometers.

Well... I am having surgery and will be off of work for 4 weeks and do not have 100 dollars to get one. Should I just take it off the bottom/turn it off until i can get one?

Yes, I would just unplug it until you can get a thermostat.

These thermostats will work as well, and cost only $30... Not as good as the $100 ones but will get the job done.

Ok Thank you! I've been beating myself up over his attitude and I hope this is the problem. I will look for a new hide and unplug that mat right now. Thank you for the help it's greatly appreciated!

Very good advice on the thermostat. Is there any way you can get a weight on him? At 7-9 months depending on weight I would think a hopper may be a bit small.

I'm not sure I really have anything to weigh him with but I can work on that! How would I know if it's too small and it's time to move up until I can weigh him. he's going to be fed tomorrow...
