Small Mice or Rat Pups/Fluffs

I would go by weight, 15% of your BP's body weight to be exact

(see post I made in your other thread)

The issue is that even here in the US while to progression of names is the same ( pinkies = smallest, then fuzzes, then pups) the size of rodents varies. So you might get 10 gram rodents called pinkies from one supplier but 5 gram rodents called pinkies from another...

By going by weight of the rodent in ratio to the weight of your snake you will have an accurate method of determining prey size.

* this only work for smaller BP's with adults a rodent that weighs 15% of its body weight would be too large.

At 73 grams your snake can eat a small adult mouse or a fuzzy rat (those are between 6 to 14 days) for the rest you need to eyeball it.

While true that their can be a difference in weight with feeders that are of the same name, appellation is based on age not the weight.

Pink Mice and Rat 0 to 5 days

Fuzzy rat and mice 6 to 14 days

Hopper mice 15 to 20 days - Rat Pup 15 to 20 days

Weanlings mice and rat 21 to 27 days

Adult mice 28 days and over - Small rat 28 days to 32 days

Based on the links in your first post, they're probably going to be a little on the small side (10g was the max), but it's not a big deal. You can always double up the last meal or two if he outgrows them, since you only ordered 10.

i ordered them from a different website but yeah if i double up does that mean i feed him one and then as soon as hes got that into his body give him another?

Yep, as soon as one's in his stomach, offer him the next.

I feed most of my new hatchlings on 'peach fuzzies'--rats that have just started to get their fur in. A 73 gram hatchling would get a fully furred fuzzy rat, eyes closed. It's about the same size as a small mouse. Sometimes I start them on mouse hoppers or smalls, depends on what I have in the rack.

I have had some hatchlings hatch out at 73 grams on occasion, lol. I usually feed fuzzies (eyes closed, furry), until they're over 100 to 120 grams, then they move up to crawlers/pups (eyes just starting to open).

Exactly. Most of mine seem to hatch in the 75-85g range, so I feed fuzzies. I have an oversupply of pinkies right now, though, so I'm feeding one and then offering another one about 20-30 minutes later (gives time to swallow completely so I don't spook them when I open the tub back up).
