    Its VERY possible to transmit mites yourself....they can get on your clothes. Its not like if they are not on a reptile, they die instantly. I have had this happen before as have many friends of mine.

    Nope. I went to a friend's house whose snakes had mites and did not think I could transmit them myself......I did not handle any of his snakes or anything. A couple of days later I noticed mites on 2 of my snakes.
