    Cypress or repti bark..whichever I find first. If I had hatchlings I would keep them on paper towels for a bit though.

    Coco coir, natural and a by product of the coconut harvest. Holds humidity better than anything else and it is digestible as well. It is super cheap too, look at organic greenhouses or farmers. I pay something like 4$ for 110L (29gal) it retails in my area for 7$ either way not very costly.

    Don't look too far, it also holds lots of bacteria and molds easily.

    We use brawny or Bounty paper towels under all of our ball pythons :)
