We use it to clean our tubs and cages. We've tried it with latched on snake bites, but it didn't work for us.

No its not expensive at all. We get the huge bottles, plus its extremely watered down so it lasts a long while.
I honestly have never heard it being toxic until you mentioned it. I know numerous other herpers who use listerin. We've been using it for 6+ years.
