Large snake still on the prowl

I'm sorry but that is no rat snake. Looks like a macklots python to me

There's some optical illusion stuff in some of the pictures making it look way bigger. But a couple shots have better perspective. I'd say it's around the 10-15 ft range as opposed to 15-20.

Still really cool though.

based on the pic and my experience caughting rats snake it a very large rat snake ( if thephoton not shopped0 I remove 20 + a season from people's garages and sheds. I had one that was thick enough ( in the middle ) to cover a small smart phone) ( like a samsung flip phone) and not have a bulge. heck someone flies me down I spend a week looknig for the snake and bring it home with me lol

Absolutely rat snake. It's not all that large(15-20 ft? Really??). In the video, you can clearly see that the tree is actually only 4-5 inches across, so it's a nice big ratsnake... not a Macklots, or a retic or a prehistoric cave snake or a yeti finger.

The markings are there, just extremely dark, so it's probably about to shed too. Doing the math with the tree trunk being about 5 inches across(diameter), I'd guess it's about 7-8 ft at most(can't see the entire snake).

Next up... we need a new photo of another 40 ft gator.

I agree it's a rat snake, but the coloring kind of reminds me of an Eastern Racer with that smokey gray chin. I don't, however, think an Eastern Racer would get that big.

As others have pointed out the tree isnt as big around as people think. Theres no way thats a 20ft snake lol. Id be amazed if it even measured half that.
To be honest when i first saw the pics i thought it may be a really dark (not sure if anery would be the right term here?) red tail boa. Its really dark and the pics are crappy but the saddle like markings along it is what made me think that originally. The rest of the body doesnt really suggest boa or python imo...

i'm not familar with rat snakes honestly but if you look closely that snake is 10 foot give or take a foot. not 20 feet but still a good size. It is dark in the pic but the first thing i noticed was the saddle patteren down the back which lead me to think boa but not sure. hope they catch it so we can know for sure. crazy things happen though. Last summer a friends wife called me to come get a big black snake out of her back yard. I thought lol its probably 3 to 5 feet. common in this area. I got there and it was every bit 11 feet and was a python that had been lost about a mile down the road a few hours before. Thank goodness he was puppy dog tame. lol

Definitely a black rat snake. I just moved a 5 footer off the road while retunring from turkey hunting a couple weeks ago and the pattern and head shape is exactly the same.

Perspective in a photo can easily be misleading making the object appear bigger as there is no depth. Probably a larger female for sure but trust me its a rat snake and a nice example at that.
