Re: Spider female what male should i look at?
Thanks for all opinions guys! I bred snakes for many years and all kinds then i moved over to breeding tarantulas. I was intrigued by these balls and got one at the last expo we had here. I just wanted to get some ideas so long as to what to look out for. Thanks guys.

I don't want to get OT here, but I'd like to say this briefly... just because some ball pythons *can* breed at 18 months doesn't mean they should. Yes, weight is an important component in breeding, but so is age. 3 years is generally when females complete sexual maturation, and breeding before then is likely to cause complications with the female. In other words, it's in the best interest of the snake to wait.

    I wouldn't wait, but that's just me, it's a personal choice.
I would however slow down the pace and feed her so she isn't fat at 17 months old, I don't believe a snake can gain 1100 grams at 7 months old without being fat, and fat is not healthy.
I have bred numerous females at 17 months of age and had nothing but normal out come, they either go or they don't go and none have ever given me an issue in any way.

Pastel yellowbelly would be my choice for a prospective affordable male.

She isn't obese, a little smaller than my 2010 female. I think the person I bought him from was misinformed.. or I have the shaq of ball pythons.

    Please.....
Do not make a Bumblebee. Unless it is your favorite morph combo and you just want one SO badly, make some Spider combo that is not plastered all over ever Ball Python classified. It is the most common, and probably lowest priced Ball combo out there.

If you like the Spider look, and have limited funds, I would say use a YB or YB combo male. The Mojave Spider is pretty sweet too, and Mojave males are almost free nowadays. There is a Calico YB in the classifeds on KS, that is reasonably priced. If I was you, I would pick that bad boy up immediatly.

I would wait until October or November to breed her, or just wait a complete year and get her well over 2 years old.
