Re: How to fully relax and trust my new 5 year old ball python
Hello again everyone and thank you for all the great advice/tips and boost in confidence! Well I was handling him earlier and Everything went smoothly, I still felt a little iffy once he began to wrap around my neck and withdrew quickly at the sight of one of my cats. So I unwrapped him and held him around my arm and took the cats to the living room, so Kaa and I could bond. ;)

Oh and I have read the bp care sheet now, and his temperature and humidity meet all the right criteria. As for his custom setup, I'm a bit put off about how it is built, I love it nonetheless but it seems strange to me; mostly because I haven't a clue what custom terrarium should look like. I will be putting up pictures of both Kaa and his c/s as soon I have time and figure out how to work everything.

Anyhow, thanks to all that replied.

I agree with what everyone has said. I have 4 bps now and dont really like them going near my face, specifically eyes lol. I let them crawl on my shoulders/ head if im sitting on the couch but never let them constrict around my neck. Theyre terrestrial snakes and clumsy lol. But ive held boas before and have no problem letting them crawl all over me. They seem alot more comfortable when doing it too. Just my .02 :)

Like everyone else has said, a lot of it is just building confidence and the two of you getting to know each other. Most bps will not bite you, rather are puppy dog tame. I do have one grumpy she-devil, but that is one out of 6 bps. I wouldn't get her within striking range of my face. My other bps, like to chill around my neck. They don't coil on, the just hang around. It is a warm spot and they like it. My boa on the other hand like to be all up in my face and loves my hair. He is a doll too, he goes up the front of my face to my hair. You will like others have said, learn to read your bp and his moods. It's all just a learning experience. You will totally enjoy him, welcome to bp.net. We have a great informative crew here. :D
